UF1 RC 
The first UF1 F1 Qualifying Session took place over this past weekend at Cal Raceway with roughly 20 driver showing up to get some practice in. Out of those 20, about 12 were there to qualify for the Formula 1 class.
At the top and bottom of every hour, we opened the track to F1 cars only, allowing them a clear track void of Minis, Euro Trucks and all forms of Touring Cars. During that time, those looking to qualify would start pumping out laps with myself and Ken Gerberding watching the screen. The 3-lap average was set at 33.9 seconds and you could get that any way you wanted – 3 11.3 second laps, a 11.2, 11.3, 11.4, etc – as long as your 3 lap average hit the target time.
Out of the drivers in attendance, only 3 made it through to the F1 class (with numerous others SOOOOOOO close) – Brian Marion, Thad Garner and Tim Valles. Those drivers we allowed to drop in faster motors (if they wanted to) and choose their Permanent F1 Driver Numbers for the Formula 1 class.
I walked around the pits and took a few pix of the cars in attendance. Almost everyone was out testing the new Exotek F1 tires – let me say that these new kicks are absolute game changers and sure to elevate your F1 game. Personally, I was running 11.0-11.3 second lap times – dropped these on (with no additional tuning) and was down in the 10.6-10.7 range! A little more tuning and I bet the car gets even better!
