Enriquez and Siu – Your 2 New F1 Drivers | UF1 RC

Enriquez and Siu - Your 2 New F1 Drivers | UF1 RC

The final SoCal qualifier for the F1 class wrapped up Sunday at TQ RC Racing. Multiple drivers were in attendance to try their luck (and show their skill) on the carpet – a feat that would prove a bit difficult at first.

The track was open for 10 minutes, during that time each driver could put in as many laps as possible to hit the 11.3 second target time (on 3 consecutive laps).

No driver was able to hit the target time during the first 10 minute stint. Phillip Enriquez was the closest, but couldn’t put 3 consecutive laps together.

In the second qualifying attempt, Phillip came out strong and dropped 3 consecutive sup-11.3 second laps right off the bat. Matt Siu, another local carpet racer, dropped his 3-consecutive laps a little later in his run, securing his spot in the F1 class.

There was quite a bit attention on the sidelines – many local racers were watching this qualifying attempt and stating how cool it was to see the drivers work for their F1 spot. We agree.

Congrats to Phillip and Matt! Welcome to F1.
