Running an all new State of the Art Factory Tamiya Chassis, powered by Honda and with a significant funding from Repsol, this new team promises to be a contender for podiums, but perhaps not as soon as the opening round of the West Australian Coast Grand Prix less than a week away.
The Summerfield HQ, which is based only minutes from the TA Circuit (host to the Japan Grand Prix in May), is working around the clock on final preparations of the FT001 car, and are building a second car (FT002) for retired veteran F1 pilot Dave Berger.
We know we are under the gun, says Team Owner and winter season test driver, Fred Medel, but things are coming together.
Medel went on to say the FT001 showed good speed during winter season testing, and should be on pace to compete for podiums, and possibly a win as soon as mid season.
Berger, unavailable for comment, should be back from Europe after procuring sponsorship, although it is rumored he was last seen in Austria at a posh RedBull Party.
We can’t thank our sponsors and suppliers enough for all their assistance in this massive effort.
More to come as the Team progresses…
