With the Season Opener less than a week away, we thought it might be a good idea to post a quick ‘What to Expect’ article for those that haven’t been to a UF1 race (and maybe a good refresher for those that have).
Race 1, the Bahrain GP, will be held at Cal Raceway in Orange (see the Racing Schedule page for the address and driving directions). The daily schedule will be a little different to any of the following races:
• Gates open at 7:30am with practice starting shortly after.
• Track will close at 9:15am for a quick Driver’s Meeting at 9:30am.
• LCQ for the Formula 1 class will start at 10:00am. This will be a 15 minute session. Target Lap Time will be determined prior to the LCQ.
• Track will reopen for practice at 10:30am.
• First round of qualifying will start at 12:30pm.
If you are not in the F1 class and want to try to qualify for it, you MUST use the F2 rules (cars will be checked prior to running). If you do hit the target time, you can then switch motors to a 21.5T or stay with the 25.5T.
We will be doing 1 round of 3-minute qualifying, taking your 5 best laps (non-consecutive) to seed you for your main. We will discuss this again during the driver’s meeting. We will also discuss the main event format and scoring.
Trophy presentations at the end of the event.
If you have any questions, myself and Ken Gerberding will be available to help you out.
